Santo Domingo.- State-owned Housing Bank (BNV) director Federico Antún Batlle (Quiqui) on Friday challenged his PRSC party colleague Humberto Salazar to file charges in court on the alleged irregularities.

"If he has any evidence, charge me in the Anticorruption Dept.," (DPCA).

Antun, president of the minority PRSC party, said he’s willing to go to any arena to prove he has behaved properly." My financial statement from 1974 to date is there," he said, calling Salazar’s claims are only slander. “I have acted in accordance to law.”

Referring to Salazar’s claim that senior BNV executives “pocketed” RD$200 million, Antún said it was the result of the liquidation of its pension plan, a measure he affirms president Danilo Medina authorized in Executive Order issued in October.

Interviewed on Zol106.5FM, Antun said the Executive Order resulted from the scandal over theRD$651,000 monthly pension which former Banks Superintendence Haivanjoe Ng gave himself.

"All that I have I can justify, and that many people in this country can’t do, including that person," the official said, referring to Salazar.

I really hope this does go to court because I am very tired of these accusationa that are made about mal conduct without any evidence being given ..It is just too easy to say or write that some one has been corrupt and not face the consequences of the statement being wrong

I suppose the one of the best article I have read was on a yahoo sportspage,,headed hunting for the truth in a land where it is fleeting , It goes on the truth does not exist here the DR is a wasteland of hustlers and pimps .money makers and moneytakers and it goes on about how impossible it is to clean up DR baseball Little difference in politics when no one knows exactly who is telling the truth Dr Moreno accused Bautista of giving a 2 million dollar or was it pesos, to the incoming President of Haiti but both Bautista and the Haitian President denied the charge and no evidence was presented and so no case could proceed , Josean can keep saying the same thing over ad over again but it will do no good unless the evidence is given to the fiscal and Dr. Moreno launches a case . I have found that telling the truth here is a rare comodity and hustling, tiguery is an every day part of life

This slime ball, is not afraid of the DR justice system, because there is none, simple as that.
After many months in court, I was awarded a sizable peso judgement, against falsifiers.
I had to paid a tax on the judgement of $100K to the ayuntamiento to get the sentence. Then they appealed claiming they where not served correctly. I won again, but they reduced the amount to a figure 10% of the last award, because judge "forgot" to convert the US dollar prices to pesos, and they computed the award, based on so many minimum salaries, so it could not be appealed by me. My rookie professor lawyer fumbled the ball, against a "tiguerazo" lawyer, and was outsmarted. I instructed to just turn the page and collect, and again even knowing that they had no case, took to the case to the supreme court, where it now sits. This is after 4 years. The appeal was unnecessary, because the sentence could not be changed, but they appealed anyway to delay paying. No justice in the DR.
