Santo Domingo.- National Housing Bank (BNV) director Federico Antún Batlle (Quiqui) on Friday admitted having received RD$12.1 million from its pension plan in 2013, but denied wrongdoing.

The official’s revelation fuels Antun’s minority PRSC party colleague Humberto Salazar’s accusation that RD$266 million were embezzled from the BNV’s pension plan.

"We’re not in a mood for polemics or much less respond to people who manipulate information for the sole purpose of harming a well-earned and demonstrated image," Antún in a statement by the BNV.

Antun admitted having received the RD$12.1 million in 2012 from the liquidation of a juicy pension plan, despite being in the post for just two years.

According to documents provided by Salazar to outlet elcaribe.com.do, around 54 senior BNV officials and employees distributed amongst themselves RD$266 million from the liquidated pension plan despite having contributed from RD$ 500,000 to RD$ 800,000.

Antun, interviewed on Zol 106FM said Salazar’s allegation, “seeks only to slander,” and that all the measures adopted in the BNV complied with the law.

Of course it is all lawful! In a Banana Republic all laws protect theft by Politician Mafias and regional Don's. What is worse is that the people believe it too!

Dominicans need to stop taking this by the shovel full and take the law into their hands and hang these people like the thieves that get caught ripping off and menacing the public. I don't think anyone will protest the death of these political thieves and the hangings should instill fear in those who intend to steal.

This is yet another story of partial truth and as was written in a baseball cloumn ..the truth in the DR is a fleeting commodity.
Firstly all pension and superanuation funds havea fee structure no matter what country you are in ,,Depending on the fund you pay for a percentage of the capital growth every year , but never receive anything if their is a capital loss, you also pay a set fee every year amd you pay a fee when you take out your money or when the fund is liquidated .Some of the fees are truly outragous ,no matter what country you are in and many countries have had to introduce regulators to look over both private and public funds.I know of a perosn in England who advised a pension fund on their building investments and his fee was 1% of construction cost and he made millions.
In this case we do not know the amount of the pension fund nor do we know the percentage that was agreed upon if the fund was liquidated ,,both are important figures So condemn when you know all

I imagine the fee on liquidation in this case is way too high and is set that way so the pension fund will continue on and the managers can draw their annual fees but there has been no information given as to the value of the fund and the fee structure ..so it is impossible to draw conclusions Remember that the value of the DR government pension funds is more than 200 BILLION pesos

For example NY city alone has 5 pension funds and in 2013 the funds paid more than $ 470 million to the fund managers ..enough to pay the salaries of 6440 teachers so it is an area that needs constant reform

I am very sorry that you cannot understand this subject but I am not unduly surprised .I think most readers here with the smallest knowlege of the financial planning and superannuation industries would be able to understand that there are always fees for liquidation of funds .. They would also understand that the fee is always a percentage of the assets in the fund

How - in the name of all things holy - does anyone NEED $12 million dollars???????????? If this IS truly on the up and up, then let's send him a pamphlet on the income tax benefits of philanthropic endeavors.

Dear God in Heaven; when I think of all the little ones whose future could have been permanently changed in the other direction………….

VERY BRIGHT FUTURE
. When the World Series is over DR should ask themselves a key question: WHY CAN'T we PRODUCE a ORTIZ, a PUJOLS or a MARTINEZ --arguably great baseball players--IN SCIENCE or TECHNOLOGY? Latin America has 560 scientific researchers per one million people, South Korea has 5,450 scientists and researchers per one million people Singapore and India, national media devotes as much to the winners of MATH OLYMPICS as to their biggest SPORTS STARS. this doesn't happen in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC OR LATIN AMERICA. while there are currently 820,000 CHINESE students at U.S. universities, 73,000 South Korea and 28,000 from Vietnam ....only 11,000 from Mexico 6,500 from Brazil Argentina and Colombia good and great soccer players like DR with baseball players. Having more players aboard in science and technology and recruiting them for specific tasks would help Latin America and DR produce a super star in software, or a superstar in ROBOTICS......this wo

More on the Corruption Cesspool!

Google

Eduardo accuses the PLD of impoverishing the country and favoring corruption with impunity

"The government has not had the courage or is unwilling to make the decision to fight administrative corruption and people ask, is it that if that is done, half of the PLD's Political Committee will go to jail?"

The average Dominican citizen has to go through hell and high water to get the most basic loan........however if you are the brother of an elite member of the exclusive PLD-PRSC Club of Corruption founded in1996 by NARCO Lie-onel and his ideological God the Criminal Balaguer......it's a little less troublesome to get a 96 million pesos loan!

Google:

BNV prestó RD$96 millones a Eduardo Antún, hermano de Quique, para ampliar empresa de harina

Quique Antún alega que se abstuvo de participar en el proceso y pidió ser más exigente

BNV loaned RD $ 96 million to Eduardo Antun, Quique's brother to expand flour company

Quique Antun alleges that he declined to participate in the process and asked for it to be more demanding

Wink wink!
