Santo Domingo.– The spokesman for the bloc of deputies of the Social Reformist Party (PRSC), Ramon Rogelio Genao, yesterday denounced the indiscriminate felling of trees in Constanza and Jarabacoa, La Vega, so he asked the government to immediately suspend the permits of cutting natural forests in the Cordillera Central.

During a press conference Genao criticized that everyday dozens of trucks with pine logs are transported to sawmills to convert wood and produce millions of dollars "before the indifference of the authorities."

"What is happening in the Cordillera Central is an unforgivable crime against the environment, for it includes the use of chemicals to dry and sick the trees, then cut them down and, what is worse, to cause arsons, in order to subsequently obtain permits to use burned trees," Genao said.

A classic NIMBY

Since this is happing in his back yard now he got his corrupt panties in a bunch all up his fat ass.

Yet this fat hypocrite supports Loma Miranda being destroyed by Falcondo/Glencore and according to Father Rogelio is one of the bastards that was paid off!

The PORKER, in more ways than one, doesn't understand the trees can grow back but the damage that will be done to Loma Miranda by the preadator mining company will be eternal.

PS

......his new found environmentalist religion must be due to the fact that the loggers haven't yet greased his Hooves!

I agree with you Josean. You can cut as many tree downs as long as you plant new one.

That fact boy is now trying to make a name to himself because he was denounced of receiving money from Barrick gold and now he wants to diverse the public attention.

go beyond the mountains around Constanza and you will find them clear cut and bare of any vegetation other than crops. Took a trip to the water falls and all you see is clear cutting for crops. Some places you can see the before and after effects with a patch of trees next to a bare hillside, No one has every heard of what happens to the soil after a heavy rain washing it into the rivers, Who even owns the property is another question. Every day in you see log trucks with pine and other trees used for roof supports or siding. Another problems is the amount of trash simply dropped by the people which ends in the rivers and streams all leading to the ocean. No campaign to stop this or teach the children not to throw away the candy wrappers
