153 years jail for 10 in San Francisco de Macoris

Santo Domingo.- The Legal Authorities, through the DuarteProvince Prosecutor’s Office, have imposed sentences totaling 153 years in jailon 10 people – nine men and one woman – after they were found guilty of a series of offenses.

The convicts include Jesús Ramón Taveras Betances and LuisManuel Aracena López, both sentenced to 30 years after being found guilty ofaggravated homicide.

Twenty-year sentences were ordered in the cases of WilmiMuñoz Castillo, Luis Robelán Muñoz Castillo, Luis Alberto Díaz and TheurysRomero Cruz, for murder, criminal association and robbery.

Judge Regis Victorio Reyes said that the accused had violated the Dominican Penal Code and Law 24-97 onGender Violence.

The provincial legal authorities also imposed five,four and three-year sentences for gender violence and sexual aggression on ReginoHernández, Juan Carlos Gabriel Rosa and José René Duarte respectively, while awoman, Birmania Díaz Amparo, was sentenced to one year in jail for physicalaggression.
