COE reports over 3,600 displaced by flooding

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported Sunday that at least 3,603 people have been displaced, 606 homes damaged or destroyed and 23 communities cut off due to intense rains over the weekend.

According to the COE, the heavy rains caused flooding throughout the eastern and northeastern regions of the Dominican Republic, where two bridges, a hospital and an electrical substation were damaged.

The most affected province is San Pedro de Macoris in the east, where floodwaters cut the land connections with several towns and destroyed dozens of homes. The COE issued an alert for 18 provinces.
