Political parties use taxpayer money without controls: Auditor

Santo Domingo.- Accounts Chamber audits in 2008 of Dominican Republic’s ruling party (PLD), the opposition PRD and pro-government PRSC, found deficiencies in internal controls and errors in their routine administrative processes.

The auditors’ criticisms range from checks written without receipts or vouchers in the PLD; employees of the PRSC not registered with Social Security, and a request to implement a registration and accounting system in the PRD, "for the purpose of drafting the financial statements."

And while four years have already passed since the Accounts Chamber’s conclusive reports were released in the first quarter of 2010, and six years since the study conducted in 2008, all three audits aim to reveal how and how much taxpayer money they handle.
