Snowstorm scraps 41 Dominican Republic-US flights

Santo Domingo.- The major snowstorm buffeting Northeastern United States has canceled 41 flights to and from New York, New Jersey and Boston as of Monday night and forced authorities to declare a state of emergency in several cities affecting an estimated 35 million people.

Of the total, Santo Domingo’s Las Americas Airport (AILA) canceled 22 flights; Santiago’s Cibao Airport 10; Puerto Plata’s Luperon Airport five and Punta Cana Airport four.

The carriers JetBlue, Delta, United and Jet West were forced to reschedule flights yesterday and today through Las Americas, Luperon, Cibao and Punta Cana, stranding thousands of local and foreign travelers who waited next to their luggage at the various airports Monday night.
