Even the dead get a check at Dominican Public Health

Santo Domingo.- 1,733 physicians in various areas who allegedly provided services to the Public Health Ministry will be pulled from the payroll, because many are out of the country, others dead or the centers where they supposedly work isn’t known, minister Altagracia Guzman revealed Wednesday.

She said among those workers absent figure doctors and nurses, as determined by an evaluation of clinics and hospitals. "These employees are under investigation and will be removed from the system."

In a recent interview for the Corripio Media Group, the official had revealed that at least 50 deceased people were still on the payroll.

Guzman said her tenure will focus on "placing the institutional train on track" and work to make budget transparent and create Public Health’s Procurement Committee.
