Dominican launches NY´s first perilous ´but fun´ mototaxis

New York.- Dominican entrepreneurDustin Rodriguez launched the first "motoconcho" (mototaxi) service inNew York City, transporting passengers in the area of Manhattan´s Lower EastSide, using the classic Vespa scooter, with a similar application as the Uber.

“Passengers arenervous during the first five minutes," admits Rodriguez. "But thenthey start to feel that this transport is really fun."

All "motoconcho"drivers in New York are licensed and provide a helmet for passengers at no extracharge.

The App, Rodriguez says,has a “setting-up" option which a user touches and immediately locates thenearest available scooter from the service database.

In his home countrymototaxis are the country´s main means of transportation, despite theirinherent risk.
