As deaths during assaults rise, government targets motorcycles
Santo Domingo.- The JusticeMinistry and the Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) on Tuesday announced protocolto impound vehicles whose drivers violate Traffic Law 241.
Justice minister FranciscoDominguez and AMET director Frener Bello signed the agreement which establishesthe procedures against the motorists who fail to comply with that law.
Dominguez said trafficregulation is a priority of the Government´s Public Safety Program, especiallymotorcycles, which are widely used in thefts and assaults.
”Kidnappingsand murders have decreased in the Dominican Republic, now the big challenge isthe robberies on motorcycles," the official said, noting that assaults onmotorcycles cause the second highest number of deaths nationwide.
