Dominican journalist shows ´bribe´ in widening scandal of judges

Santo Domingo.-Investigative journalist Nuria Piera on Thursday showed copies of what she affirmsproves that judge Awilda Reyes returned 350,000 pesos as part of the allegedbribes from former Judicial Council member Francisco Arias, to release PedroBrand city councilman Ericson the Los Santos, accused of contract killings.

The copies of thepapers dated November 2 are reportedly signed by Reyes as Arias as well.

Recently Arias had challengedthe authorities to submit evidence against him, if they had any, in thewidening scandal which has prompted the suspension without pay of seven judges.
