Mind your business, DominicanRepublic´s Cardinal tells US envoy

Santo Domingo.-Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez on Tuesday told US ambassador JamesW. Brewster to deal with issues of his embassy instead of talking about corruptionin Dominican Republic.

"This man (Brewster)should get into his embassy and as a wife of a gentleman, take care of thehouse, that’s what he has to do it," said Lopez.

The prelate´s statementforms part of the scathing backlash to the diplomat´s recent criticism of corruption“at the highest levels of the Dominican Republic government.”

Speaking at the AmericanChamber of Commerce (AMCHAMDR) luncheon last week, Brewster had called for actionsto deal with what he has described as rampant corruption also questioned “Dominicansociety’s passivity” with malicious acts with taxpayers money.

As to the US envoy´schallenge to those who don’t agree with his criticism to hand in their US visa,the Cardinal advised them to "give them all back, we have no interest inthem here."
