Prosecutor questions 10 military, police in US$100M Peravia bank fraud

Santo Domingo.- National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso interrogates 10 members of the military and police officers in connection with the failed bank Peravia, of a total of 25 linked to the fraud said to be of more than US$100.0 million.

The interrogations on Tuesday come after consultations with Defense minister Maximo W. Muñoz and Police chief Manuel Castro.

The military and police arrived with their lawyers after 9am at the office of the prosecutor in the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse, where colonels Víctor Manuel del Orbe, Fernando Rafael Hernández and Jesús María Castillo have already been questioned.

The official already interrogated the master sergeants Juan Lizardo Álvarez y Marino Vizcaíno.

The surgeon Héctor Cabral has also been questioned for alleged links with Venezuelan fugitives José Luis Santoro and Gabriel Jimenez Aray, both wanted on an arrest warrant.
