US State Department officials visit Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.– Two top United States officials, Counselor Thomas Shannon and Special Coordinator for Haiti Thomas Adams, arrived Sunday in Santo Domingo to to meet with President Danilo Medina, Foreign Minister Andres Navarro, and representatives of the International Organization for Migration and UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

According to the State Department, Counselor Shannon and Special Coordinator Adams were also set to meet with representatives of civil society to discuss issues of migration and worker rights.

On Monday, March 30, the two US officials will head to Port-au-Prince to meet with representatives of the Haitian Government, international organizations, and the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) to discuss preparations for upcoming Haitian elections.
