Dominican trucks leave Haiti; secure corridor announced: Libre

Santo Domingo.- The head of Dominican Republic’s biggest truckers union (Fenatrado) on Sunday said UN peacekeepers (MINUSTAH) and Haiti Police established a security corridor for trucks that haul freight from Dominican Republic, to ensure their safety.

Blas Peralta said truck traffic through the border crossings at Jimaní and Dajabon has already been restored.

Quoted by diariolibre.com.do, Peralta said MINUSTAH and Haitian police protected the last of the trucks which were being held Haiti in Dajabón and Jimaní.

He said the corridor for trucks spans from Jimaní to the Haiti town of Kwadèbouke, and from there to the area near the international airport at Port-au-Prince.
