Police snag 21 pickpockets at Haiti-Dominican market

Dajabon, Dominican Republic.- Dominican authorities on Sunday said security was tightened around the bilateral market held Mondays and Fridays in Dajabón province along the Haiti border (northwest), EFE reports.

The National Police at Dajabon said it took the measure after 19 Haitians and one Dominican were arrested last Friday, caught shoplifting and burglarizing merchants from both countries.

It said several knives were seized from the detainees

According to local media many of those arrested are pickpockets caught stealing goods, jewelry and wallets.
