Santo Domingo.- Dominican Foreign minister Andrés Navarro met with foreign ambassadors from Latinn America and Asia, as part of the global strategy to explain the results of the government’s program to legalize undocumented foreigners.

The meeting comes amid continuing salvoes against Dominican Republic from abroad.

In a statement Saturday the Foreign Ministry also provided details of the meeting between Navarro and ambassadors from the region, held in the Dominican Embassy in Panama.

The meetings aim to show the reality of the legalization program being carried out at a cost of over RD$1.7 billion (US$37.7 million), with more than 300,000 people registered thus far, the Foreign Ministry said.

Navarro said 20 Dominican ambassadors attended the meeting. "The country has a dynamic foreign service to globally expose the reality of what has been happening on migration with the National Plan for the Regularization of Aliens."
