Tit-for-tat pushes Hispaniola nations toward severed ties

Santo Domingo.- The Foreign Ministry early Wed. said DominicanRepublic "strengthened bilateral relations with Haiti, however, the Haitiangovernment’s behavior has now removed the conditions."

It tweeted the statement one day after Haiti reportedfired it ambassador in Santo Domingo, Daniel Supplice, and Haiti prime ministerEvans Paul’s assertion that "it’s difficult ask victims to apologize to theirtormentors," revealing that Port-au-Prince won’t apologize to SantoDomingo on claims that Haitian nationals have been mistreated.

Several reports affirm Supplice’s removal, for his allegedlack of “belligerence” against the Dominican policies on Haitian immigrants.

Local media report that around 2,000 protesters marchedthrough several Port-au-Prince streets in solidarity with the Dominicans ofHaitian descent and Haitian nationals in the Dominican Republic affected by policieson migrants.
