“Danny” to bring light rainfall, new storm “Erika” on horizon

Santo Domingo.- The remnants of formerhurricane and tropical storm Danny, now a tropical depression, will be passingover the south of the Dominican Republic later today, bringing scatteredshowers across the national territory.

The National Meteorological Office (Onamet)informed that “Danny” would be accompanied by moderate scattered showers, thunderstorms andwind gusts in the Northeast, Southeast, the central mountains, the border areaand the coastal plains.

Onamet adds that scattered showers andthunderstorms are forecast for the Greater Santo Domingo area this evening andtonight. Temperatures will remain high.

Meanwhile, a new storm named "Erika" is forming in the Atlantic and alerts have been issued for islands of the Eastern Caribbean. According to Onamet, if Erika ontinues on its present track, it will affect parts of the Dominican Republic later this week.
