Noise pollution hearing adjourned

Santo Domingo.- The Higher AdministrativeCourt (TSA) decided on Monday to adjourn a case submitted by journalist YolandaMartínez against the National District City Council, against the Nuryn SanlleyAmphitheater and the municipal authorities for alleged environmental damage.

The TSA postponed the hearing so thatother voluntary contributors could join in the legal process and present theirevidence. The companies and individuals include AmaurySánchez, Sky Gate Multimedia, Star Show, Rafael Taveras and Sugar Event, aswell as residents’ associations from the Quisqueya, Eugenio María de Hostos andLa Yuca de Naco neighborhoods.

“We live in noise pollution hell everyweekend thanks to the National District mayor’s office. The Council has imposeda party hall on us, in violation of every imaginable law concerning noise andthe environment; what they have done to us is a disaster," declared Martínez.

Meanwhile, La Esperilla neighborhoodassociation spokesman Leibniz Abreu said that he had requested a meeting withMayor Roberto Salcedo to discuss the problems, but had not received a reply todate.
