Bombshell: Brazil bribes in Dominican Republic: Bloomberg

Santo Domingo.- Brazil plane maker Embraer SAagreed to pay US$205 million to resolve long-running corruption probes by theU.S. and Brazil that started with an airplane deal with the Dominican Republicand spread to other countries, Bloomberg reports on Monday.

Thewire service reports that Embraer will pay US$107 million to the U.S. JusticeDepartment and enter into a three-year deferred prosecution agreement.

"The company, which admitted to beinginvolved in a conspiracy to violate U.S. anti-bribery laws, will pay anadditional penalty of (US)$98 million to the Securities and Exchange Commission,Bloomberg reports, adding that the company is paying Brazilian authorities US$20million," the wire service said quoting a statement from the agency.
