Region nations should pact with the International Criminal Court

Washington.- Deputy MinouTavarez Mirabal, president of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) participatedin the workshop of the International Criminal Court, ICC, held in Washington,which addressed the issue of the voluntary cooperation of OAS member states ofthe CPI programs and projects.

In her speech, Tavarez stressedthe need for governments to cooperate with the ICC to pass laws aimed in thesame direction as the Court’s supplement programs in their nations, for theagency’s International Justice to progress.

"We the PGA membersurge our governments to learn about the volunteers and sign cooperationagreements with the Court to protect and relocate witnesses, for conditionaland definitive releases and to enforce rulings as the key to the operation ofany court," the lawmaker said.

She said in DominicanRepublic’s case the PGA national group promotes legislation and cooperationagreements with the ICC.
