Feisty Dominican Army Gen. ® chases, kills assailant

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Army retired general Jose delCarmen Ramirez, known as Ranger for his daring confrontations with powerful politicians,shot and killed one of two assailants near his home in the Los Mina sector,Santo Domingo Este.

As video that went viral shows two men whacking him on thehead and snatching Ramirez’s handgun. Once they fled the retired officer raninto his house and came out with an assault rifle, chased the thugs and fatallyshot one of them.

Military newspaper El Castrense published the video of theincident which reportedly occurred on Sunday.

While head of the East Region Forestry Div., Ramirez, then aCaptain, challenged powerful politicos, including Altagracia province senator Amable Aristy, overthe lawmaker’s alleged illegal lumber business.
