Dominican capital hosts conclave Latin America, Caribbean foreign ministers

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic will host the 10thMeeting of Foreign Ministers of the Community of Latin American and CaribbeanStates (CELAC) starting Wednesday, inaddition to the 17th Meeting of National Coordinators, both eventsto be held in the Sheraton and Jaragua hotels.

The session will open 9am with more than 20 foreignministers.

The events will set the stage for the next CELAC Summit slatedfor January 2017, with the Dominican Republic holding the revolving presidency.

Among the topics for discussion figure work plans at thetechnical level of the organization’s pro tempore presidency, and the progressand future of that multilateral mechanism.

Foreign minister Andrés Navarro said CELAC nationalcoordinators will be meeting today and at the Sheraton hotel tomorrow to meetand approve the PPT agenda of ECLACRD, and assess the level of development accomplishedalong its first five years since founded, cooperation and political dialogue, andthe future of the community of nations.

Thirty of the regional body’s 33 countries will attended 30the conference: Argentina, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil,Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala,Guyana, Haiti, Honduras , Jamaica, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, St.Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis; Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
