Former Lain America Idol gets parole, prosecution to appeal

Santiago.- Santiago Sentencing judge Ruben Dario de la Cruzon Wednesday ruled for singer Martha Heredia’s request for release to work andstudy through the Justice Ministry’s conditional parole program, "mediolibre."

Just hours after the ruling, the Santiago Office of the Prosecutor announcedit will appeal the decision.

Once she heard the judge’s ruling, the former Lain AmericaIdol winner placed her hands over her head and started crying. Her parole willallow her to work locally and study in a university for Adults (PACU).

Heredia was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2013 forheroin trafficking.
