Health authorities update contingency plan for 2016 hurricane season

Santo Domingo.- The Health Ministry, through the Risk Management and Disaster Relief Department (DGRA), met with various entities and agencies to update the Contingency Plan for the 2016 Hurricane Season.

DGRA director Jose Luis Cruz said that every year the Dominican territory is threatened or impacted by weather events such as tropical waves and storms with great destructive power that cause damages to health and the environment.

"The overall objective of this meeting is to update or redesign the plan for the hurricane season with the experience and knowledge of technicians from each relief agency. In addition, we will assume the experiences of previous years to see what points are to be changed or reinforced," Cruz pointed out.
