Dominican leader to attend Colombia-FARC ceasefire ceremony

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic president Danilo Medina willtravel to Havana tomorrow Thursday, to participate in the ceremony to announcethe details of the cease-of-hostilities agreement reached by the Colombian government and the guerillagroup FARC.

Medina will participate in the meeting in his capacity aspresident pro temper of the Economy Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean(ECLAC), government spokesman Roberto Rodriguez confirmed Wednesday.

The details of the agreement will be released tomorrow in ahigh-level event led by president Juan Manuel Santos; FARC top leader RodrigoLondoño (Timoshenko), and Cuba president Raul Castro and Norway ForeignMinister, Borge Brende, the two guarantor countries of the Colombian peaceprocess.

The ceremony, which will take place in Havana’s El Laguito complex,will be attended by UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon as special guest, accompaniedby other UN senior officials.
