Education authorities to consider new methods of evaluating students

Santo Domingo.- Education minister Carlos Amarante Baret said Friday that the ministry is open to new methods to evaluate the students of the Dominican education system.

According to Diario Libre, the new position is a response to some sectors calling for the elimination of national tests, which is the current system.

Through the Twitter account @MinerDO, the official said they receive all kind of criticism towards the national tests, "as we try to improve every year."

However, Amarante pointed out that "what we need to improve is the quality of education in our classrooms, because the higher the level of the teaching and learning process, the performance of students will improve in these tests."
