Scattered showers Saturday, tapering off Sunday

Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office (Onamet) onFriday forecast downpours in several regions from an upper level through and a tropicalwave approaching the Dominican Republic.

"A tropical wave is located south of Puerto Rico,moving west. While on our territory, is expected to increase the moisturecontent and interact with a high level trough to cause some showers during theafternoon," Onamet said.

It said eastern and southern provinces can expect varyingamounts of rainfall.

Onamet said the tropical wave will be leaving the country Saturday,but another will arrive from the Caribbean Sea toward tomorrow afternoon, with scatteredshowers and thunderstorms until early evening, mostly over the Caribbean coast,the Northeast and Central Mountains.

It said the rain will taper off on Sunday, with only widelyscattered showers.
