Authorities to seize speakers, amplifiers, plants of noisy businesses

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Dominguez affirmedWednesday that anyone who breaks the law will be charged, because “the priorityis for people to live in peace.”

"We’re promoting a new work vision, we’ve giveninstructions to close businesses that don’t let working or older people sleep,they need peace," Dominguez said.

He said the authorities will protect the natural resources,and seize and destroy equipment that “feed” noise pollution.

"We will seek to be stronger to ensure greater peace forcitizens regarding noise,” he said, and stressed that he issued preciseinstructions, not only to seize the loudspeakers but also the power plants andelectronic equipment that feed the speakers, which must also be destroyed,"the official said.

Dominguez spoke during of the unveiling of the remodeled Officesof the Environment and Natural Resources Prosecutor, at a cost of around RD$8.0million, to improve its services.
