Protesters want Medina, Fernandez and Mejia investigated

Santo Domingo.- The social and citizens’ organizationsthat have called for a march on Sunday to demand prosecutions in the Odebrecht scandalon Tuesday asked the Accounts Chamber to review the financial statements ofsome 30 officials and former officials with links to the Brazilian company since2001.

The request includes the statements submittedby president Danilo Medina, former presidents Leonel Fernández and HipólitoMejía, as well as former Public Works ministers Victor Diaz Rúa and MiguelVargas as well as current minister Gonzalo Castillo, among others.

Group spokesman Carlos Pimentel said thesenators and deputies should also be included.

In a statement delivered to the Accounts Chamberoffice which evaluates and inspects the financial statement submitted bygovernment officials, group representatives María Teresa Cabrera, FernandoHenríquez and Bartolomé Pujals stress the need to verify and identify potentialembezzlement.
