"Vote for me and I'll set you free...!"
The evangelists did it first and did so very well, by protesting in front of the very entity which governs Dominican elections.
They seek the recognition of a blank vote as a protest to the country’s political system, an exercise which already occurred in other countries and gains momentum.
Accepting the paraphrased belief that “democracy’s ills can be only be cured with more democracy,” it’s time Dominican citizens demand the true value of their vote, even if cast unmarked.
Until then, it would be nice to see the maturing of this idea to vote for the “lesser of three evils” embodied in the candidates of the country’s three major political parties: Dominicans should choose their “least objectionable” candidate by placing two tiny horns on their heads in the picture ballot. It’s not the fix-all but who knows, it may light a hellfire under their butts.

I want to apologize to the three wise men... I don’t know any of them personally, but is it me or of the three.. Amable has the more striking resemblance to that cartoon of the devil mask.

I know two of them personally, the third by association....I definitely got my (unfortunately) "least objectionable."

The only truthful one in the group would have to be the cartoon. At least we know what his intentions will be from the start.

Is this the best we could come up with ? All three are carbon copies of each other, they will hand out botellas, and misappropriate funds; this is what Dominican politics are all about. They represent, all that’s wrong with the DR.

Greeeeat observation FranftheTank. The real pain (cannot blame the people) is that the people in DR, just keep voting for the same thing over, over , and over, there are no other real choices. The DR needs new Blood, and new ideas, it's that simple.

What evangelists has to do with politics anyway? If you were thinking about Matthew, Mark, Luke and John?
Matthew was a former tax collector.
If you were thinking about Christian sect called themselves evangelists, again why they have to make opinions about politic and elections?
WHAT IS AN EVANGELIST? By definition an evangelist is a preacher of the Gospel though not an apostle. The Gospel means the "good news." That is, the good news of God's gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. The ability God gives to an evangelist is something that he cannot generate within himself. It is a gift given by God and is especially tailored to preaching the Gospel and to winning people to Christ. It is a gift to persuade, reason, and explain.

Don't ask what your country can do for you. ask what you can do for your country.
Maybe like this: Don't ask what Leonel can do for you. ask what you can do for Dominican Republic.

Neither of those men have a moustache suitable of making a great leader!

We are always voting for the same parties because ¨we don´t vote to lose¨ so we give our vote to one of the ¨three big parties¨ because we want our vote to count, even voting against a party or candidate (as I usually do). Anyways, our politicians are more of the same, all candidates are full of promises, but none can be trusted and followed as a real promise for the DR future. Money is all that counts, country and people are not in politician´s agenda (only in campaing).

Politicians:
When evening comes, I return home [from work] and go to my study. On the threshold I strip naked, taking off my muddy, sweaty workday clothes, and put on the robes of court and palace, and in this graver dress I enter the courts of the ancients and am welcomed by them, and there I taste the food that alone is mine, and for which I was born. And there I make bold to speak to them and ask the motives of their actions, and they, in their humanity reply to me. And for the space of four hours I forget the world, remember no vexation, fear poverty no more, tremble no more at death; I pass indeed into their world

What Dominicans should be worried about is in educating themselves to see which candidate brings the best to country in this present situation. I believe Dominicans must begin to understand the National politics and that will be reached through education, and education only. It seems to me that Dominicans are still voting for tradition and not because they have a conviction that the candidate they are voting for will make a change. Till when Dominican, till when will we go out and spend they day in the hot sun just for the fun of it. I guess people are too busy going out trying to make some money, that they forget that the country's destiny is in our hands and until we don't begin making intelligent decision about our votes, more and more Dominicans will keep on suffering what we've been going through all this years. Our future is in our hands.

You can't cure cancer with more cancer, that's just dumb. By the way, is the devil running for president (see photo). Personally, I believe that the Dominican Republic is in serious need of true leadership and authority, because the truth is that this place is a disaster...yeah, I said it.
Leonel Fernandez is the only candidate worth it right now. After Leonel is gone, I'm afraid of what will happen to the country.

I agree with Trujillo in the comment above, it is true the Dominicans need true leaders, but what is a true leader? Well the way I see it a true leader is not he who makes me look good but he whom is interested in working with the people and for the people. It could also be true that at this very moment Leonel Fernandez might be the best choice for Dominicans, however we ca not close our eyes and see the reality that is lived in the country where the balance between rich and poor is just outrageous, where poor can hardly afford to eat and yet we are building Metro and no investing in real education so that everyone can have access to better jobs and so that opportunities are more balance toward the poor people sides.
It is really nice to build streets, and Metro but in the end the only ones utilizing the streets are the rich cause they are the only ones who can afford to buy cars and to pay the gas prices. Lest not close our eyes Dominicans and fight so our educational leve

The Dominican Republic has its own history of political struggle and it will continued. The Evangelists are no different from the candidates, they hold each other hands in all that takes place in D.R.. They are in competition mainly with the catholic church whose the right arm of the government. They don't care who is in power cause they will always be there just as the Evangelists. They are all poison to the Dominican Society. A blank vote in Dominican politics does not and will not exist. Each dominating party will dispute the nonvoters and count them just the same. This they will agree to do.

What would happen if, for instance, the majority of the population voted for the blank?
Those who object to the candidates already have a "blank" vote...they can sit out an election. True, you will still have a winner with less than the majority of the populace voting...but it is still preferable to the political chaos that a "no candidate" vote would create. And in the case that no one candidate garners a clear majority of actual votes cast, you can have a run-off.
The "evangelists", God bless their hearts, know precious little about politics.
