A Domincian Today reporter went to Pedernales and took this shot of a guard post at the Haiti border crossing, on DT's 3rd birthday.

Dominican Today came on line three years ago Sunday and we are so busy no one noticed.

We now get the full array of press releases, invitations to press conferences and other events, and send reporters to all corners of the Dominican Republic in search of first hand information…a real newspaper, and with a real purpose of providing the most balanced and diverse news of this country.

Thanks for making the only English language newspaper in this country your preferred information source.

Congrats on a great feat. Please continue to remain independent and unbias. A very difficult formula to follow in the Dominican Republic. Don't sell out to bribes and don't be afraid of threats. Only the truth will set you free. Please continue to inform us with your great work.

The advent of the "Open Forum" by which the reading public is allowed to issue forth with commentaries on each article published is the best way to provide an avenue through which the exchange of ideas and controversy can gain audiences.
This is the single most contribution that Dominican Today has provided to their reaading public andfor that I am extremely grateful.
Such a policy is, to me, the most unique in the anals of Dominican journalism.
These pages have been fraught with controversial commentaries, both from the extreme left to the extreme right and have contributed to a better understanding of the adversity which governs our everyday thinking and actions.
Personally, I don't agree with many who post on these pages, but, like Patrick Henry, will "defend to the death their right to so express their opinion".
Dominican Today has provided the platform for those opinions with their "Post your Comments" section.
Continue forever this policy, Jorge.

I also take my hat off to DT on your third birthday.

I would just respectfully like to give you a humble suggestion, that you consider not taking political advertisement from any political party or entity.

There is a serious lack of confidence in the transparency of the media in DR. You could be a leader in reestablishing credibility in the media by leading by example, just as you have hit the ball out of the park with this "public forum" format.

I realize that financial pressures and competition may not allow to do this but if you could it would be wonderful for our very, very, very fragile "democracy!"

I understand that advertising is what keeps alive this site. It has to since there are montly costs associated with running it. I don't really care about a political party's banner as long as it helps DT financially AND doesn't contaminate, soften or censor any news that may go against the political party that is advertising.

Congratulations.. I am very happy with this website as well. Please keep on professionalizing by improving the writing style of the articles and always mentioning references and sources of stories, pictures, etc. Longer articles in which the whole background of a story is explained are better than shorter ones.
