Dear Friend,

Hope all is well with you and yours.

After being the Field Organizer for Barack Obama in Philadelphia and Raleigh

(North Carolina), I have been requested to go to Puerto Rico. I needed a few days to recoup and spend with partner (who has been making the trips on the weekends to Philly and North Carolina to help me out) so I will be here from today (Friday) until Monday, when I depart for PR to organize for Barack.

If you know anyone (friends, family, etc.) who lives in PR (near San Juan where I will be based) and who would like to join us to change the usual politics, please forward my email to them.

Until further notice, the best way to reach me is at:

HRivera@BarackObama.com

On a side note, many have emailed or called me to ask if I was still running for City Council in 2009 and my response has been clear and consistent: YES I am running. However, I must focus my efforts in making sure that we have a

President who understands the challenges our people face and offers the best solutions. I am personally tired of having politicians who care about us when election comes around and then do whatever they want when in office.

Clearly, it's time for a change we can believe in here in the Bronx and in the country.

I will be in touch and thank you for continued support.

Mr.Barack Obama has no agenda for the American people that will constitude real change. The troops in Irack connot be brought back just like and if any U.S. president takes the steps to do so it will destroyed the chances of a U.S. military base in that region of the world. The idea is to have and keep a military present in Irack so as to keep in check such countries as Iran and other hostile nations to the U.S. and its allays. The economic as it stand and all the factors involved that are affecting it can't be approached by one individual ideas with no previous experience on a global basis. What changes are they talking about, I have no idea. What I do know is that cause a women is running for president and that women is an ex-first lady, is having psychological effects on people. This is more of an emotional democratic election than picking base on years of experience. Mr. Cinton had a good record as far as his presidency is was concerned but again people are not looking at that.

Mr Vargas: what about the current administration (Bush-Chenney) have destroyed the american foundation as a society, debt is staggering and the US is owed by China almost 100%.

45% of the money collected from taxes is being funneled to Irak ,while the oil prices go up the Bush Administration want to blame the middle east countries instead of blaming the oil companies for getting richer abusing the general population.

There is not real treat from terrorism in the way this goverment want to scare the peple, Where are the so called WMD'S (LIES LIES LIES), if You go any bookstore in the US EX: Borders or Barnes and Noble, You will find so many books telling people all lies and false information that this corrupted, crooked and devil goverment has made up to control the planet.

The best part is the Israel Lobby group that is base in Washington, DC and which have a dark agenda against the middle east.

So much wrong information to the public is really negative and devilish.

Racism exist everywhere in US, abroad and even in DR. So your experience on racism is really irrelevant when you consider that Hispanics too reserve racist and prejudicial sentiments towards blacks, Meztizos, Mulattos etc.

On another note, if someone thinks That Bush Administration and their cronies deserves another chance, well apparently you must be in denial, incoherent or perhaps smoking crack or just plain stupid with a CAPITAL S. I'd prefer to take my chances with Obama or Clinton, or Ron Paul for that Matter.

Yes Obama years of experience may be questionable to a degree, but you can bet that all the experience in the world does not result in the best decisions. A leader represent the following traits Knowledge, Tact, Justice, JUDGMENT, Enthusiasm, Endurance, Decisiveness, Discipline, Initiative INTEGRITY, Courage, Loyalty, Unselfishness, and Bearing.

BUSH had a governorship with substantial experience, and what has he done to improve the U.S. on a national and Global scale?

SQUAT!

Obama's change is not just a change in ideology and politics, but a physical and psychological change. We need to clean up the house. This means, not just wash the dishes and clean the floors but throw everything out the door, to the trash and start anew. Keep only the fixtures (perhaps just one or two) the foundation and the Roof. Everything else must go.

Your argument is much the same as many. But I find no evidence that gives light to the paucity of Obama's political experience. I believe this can be seen in the verdure of his statements or answers highlighted by the media. Statements and answers which too often are a reflection of the reality and not the political correctness or embellishments that we have become accustomed to hearing and seeing.

Hillary would have been a good candidate but unlike Obama, I and many find her abrasive and polarizing. Though his fervor does not parallel hers, his freshness, his charisma, appeal and his ability to convey his message and idea with clarity, eloquence and control is a quality than can only work for him while in the Oval office. Mind you, these qualities are some of the same qualities and attributes that Bill Clinton possessed. No president make decisions on his own. So I'm sure he will have plenty of advisers to guide and advise him, just as others have done.

On another note, McCain would have been a viable candidate for my vote in 2004. But we are in a new era and times are very different from just four years ago. Drastically different. Because the dire state of our economics and politics, I and many feel, it is time for a complete overhaul of our politics, politicians, and mindset.

Finally , McCain is just another George Bush, just packaged differently.

It seems many people, including Hispanics, fear an Obama presidency. This fear is based on many beliefs, I'll address the most prevalent one first, that other "minorities" will be held back while a "Black" president promotes his own people first. I have heard this from Asians, Hispanics and even Anglo-Americans (white). The very idea that a Black president could, even if he wanted to, advance "his" people over the rest of the U.S. population is immpossible. A U.S. president does not have imperial powers to give out money to favorite groups and programs. He cannot appoint any one he feels who will follows his orders to important positions, there's a process for this.Other groups will no more be second class citizens with a Black president than they are today.
Those who question Barak Obama's experiance are mostly using this as a smoke screen. A President has a cabinate, he cannot make ill advised decisions, unless those around him are also ill informed. Change means a new approach.

The boomers have had their chance; thanks for the memories and the wacky sixties, but enough is enough. Moreover for another Clinton to take office makes us no better than the worst banana republic with a couple of families trading the executive power like nobles and kings.

Obama was educated at our finest institutions and by all accounts is a skilled diplomat, orator, and organizer. After the Cheney administration what we least need is a strong executive; at least all the remaining candidates are senators and not governors. Of the three Obama is least likely to be a unitary executive type and most likely to be a consensus-builder as a President is meant to be. Presidents, again, are not meant to be nobles or kings.

As for McCain the maverick Manchurian candidate ...I'm amazed at the folly of the Republicans in letting this guy win. Either Clinton or Obama, or even Kermit the Frog, could whip this guy something fierce come November.

Well he has done a pretty good job running his campaign. He has also come this far with more money raised than the Clintons. He has moved and mobilized more people to register and vote than anyone in a very, very, long time.

So he must be doing something right. But the nay-sayers still disqualify him, by saying he lacks experience.

Bush had experience as a governor. Either he was to stupid to use his experience or too stupid to listen to the truth.

Well if you want to credit his campaign mgmt for his success it still shows Obama has proper organizing skill, which is the real skill we need for the next four years. The truth is that the CEOs of the Fortune100 are all more experienced and technically skilled men than any president. "Politics" is not really a skill in the sense of real CEOs, it is a cunning sense of manipulating/directing ppl that you have or you don't. Political skill is creating perceptions and managing diplomacy amongst different interests, and no one can argue Obama lacks in either of these realms; he is such a good speaker/perceptionist that some try to claim it is a negative, and he comes from Chicago interest politics. The man is the perfect product of his times and this is why I think he'll crush the anachronism that is McCain if he can only finish grappling with Clinton, who has shown herself to be a perfectly selfish example of her boomer times.

Politicians say what people want to hear and people like for politicians to fight each other in their names. Talking elogantly with words sounding like sweet music to our ears is not the true realities of our cost of living. Talking that cause so and so is black you will get a better job tomorrow is wishful thinking but out of reality: thinking that a women in the white house will open a women to a better and higher pay just like that is also wishful thinking but out of realities. Though these things can take place just the same in its due time, people are expected to fight for their rights cause no politicians is going to just give them to the people but they will take the credits. So when a politician talks of change one must seriously asked -- What Changes? Just the same people want to be let so leaders are developed to lead people, not always in the right directions.

HectorVargas,
Former Pres. Clinton inherited a bubble economy that was formed after Pres. Reagan left the presidency 4 years prior. He did absolutely nothing but let companies outsouce labor which slowly began choking the US economy.
It is clear that Obama's politics will be different. Thus, changing DC politics. For example Obama had a big oportunity this weekend to hammer Clinton about her statements about RFK when she was asked why doesn't she leave the primary. Obama chose the higher road.

Many will argue and criticize Obama's stance on change. Much of the criticism is targeted at what some would categorize as his lack of substance or inability to define “change” in a precise, lucid and tangible manner. For those who argue and criticize I say this.

Drastic decisions in ones life are not always made on pure and perfect information. The idea or premise of change is a state and condition which one must adopt and take ownership. Ownership, I think he and many have taken.

I myself once criticized Obama's lack of substances and his inability to elucidate on how he plans to change our current state.

But when I sit and analyze our current state; who and how we were brought here; when I think about the divisiveness of our country; when I think about a president who has the lowest approval ratings in history 36-38% and the reasons why; when I think about an administration that has failed to cede or capitulate to the will of the people by hiding and distorting facts and information; an administration who has been in stubbornly pure denial and unwilling to admit and accept failure or acknowledgment of failure; when I think about all those who have lost lives and family for the sake of one mans capricious endeavor; when I think in retrospect of all that has been attributed to this pitiful excuse of human existence, rather than pledge a vote to mediocrity and a grandiose delusional administration, it will be better to flirt with curiosity and opportunity, than to entertain flirting with a confirmed group of inept and incompetent simian fools.

Another blooming mooncalf in denial. I dont' see how one can equally compare Lincoln and Bush considering the stark contrast in society and the many different societal factors. This is really an idiotic statement. Anyone with any G2 or a photon of intelligence would have to consider the society of that era. It is indicative of the moronic substance of American Voters that elected an idiot not once , but twice.

As bad as the comparison to Lincoln is any imagination of parallels between WWII and the present situation are even stranger. Whichever way you feel about the conflicts in Afghanistan or Iraq it is quite a stretch to compare them to WWII...one was a global war between industrialized militaries, while today we have a police action/guerrilla war.
