We can only imagine, without looking for sarcasm, what terror Mr. Andres Terrero had been the victim of in the Accounts Chamber since he was appointed its chief more than one year ago.
Terrero had been a well-known and even respected public figure for years in the area of audits and accountants.
From there his descent to a laughing stock of the media must be a terrifying plunge. We can only hope he realizes his predicament in time, resign and prevent the further deterioration of his now shaky prestige.
But the overall effect of the spectacle has to be positive for the country. Other appointed officials would take heed and hopefully the elected ones take note that Dominicans are becoming impatient with the routine stealing of our money precisely by those in charge of protecting it.
No one can benefit when the image of the politicians becomes so low that citizens lose trust –or worse- challenge their authority.
Ingovernance is just a fancy word for chaos.
