I’ve known Arturo Villanueva since my start in the newspaper business in the early 1980s. His rise to the top of the country’s tourism industry is the result of his good sense, business acumen and most of all to his ‘nice guy’ attitude.
When editing the article on the uproar caused by the publication of the UNPD document which criticizes the country’s tourism industry for its handling of the surrounding areas of resorts, a lack of vision on the environment, among other points, I had to dig deeper because it was hard for me to believe that Villanueva would stoop to cliché name-calling when perhaps a more cool-headed approach is in order.
No one can question Dominican Today’s constant and firm support of the country’s tourism industry, but those who slam the term ‘ecoterrorist’ in the face of many who only seek to protect our natural treasures can also expect our rebuke.

Please run for president.
But you will have to get rid of the old guard. Their sense of entitlement is beyond repulsive.
