President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address to the 112th Congress of the United States, a transcendental event proper for a world power, where the President renders accounts of his tenure with a strict protocol where government and opposition join to hear their President’s voice.

Flexing his dominance of oratory and with an audience composed of his main civilian and military officials, the membership of both legislative chambers, the Justices of the Supreme Court, the diplomatic corps and special guests, the President centered his speech in the country’s economy, the accomplishments of his foreign policy, energy, immigration, and the challenge to maintain his nation as the first world power, among others topics were addressed by the democratic statesman.

Obama stressed that the United States must reinforce its world economic leadership via the support of the manufacturing sector, motor of the traditional economy. With a gesture of vehemence shown through the television screens, Obama said that during World War II the United States could construct the gigantic Hoover Dam and the Golden Gate Bridge, both works symbols of American engineering. One of the examples cited by the tenant of the White House was the automotive industry, affirming that General Motors is again the world’s leading automaker this year, after this important industry underwent the rigors of the recession and the financial setbacks just two years ago.

He mentioned the recent free trade agreements reached with South Korea, Colombia and Panama, which in his view, created thousands of jobs for American workers. He also pledged that raising the flag of jobs creation as a priority during his tenure. He made special emphasis on the need to revamp education in schools, asking that no child or youngster should have to drop out until reaching 18 years of age.

He said in China and India education is geared toward the learning of sciences and mathematics. He made a commitment that within 25 years, 80 percent of Americans would travel by high speed trains to shorten distance and time in mass transit.

Not for me to comment from the performance of a US president…… that’s for you guys living under that government to evaluate and vote-on…….but…from many people here; the performance of the seating US president is “disappointing”.

Obama is a legend in his own mind and the first person to have won a Nobel prize for absolutely nothing. His followers are in a messianic trance which blind them to Barry Soetoro's failings.

The last historical figure to receive that sort of blind adoration was Adolf Hitler who also believed in a strong centralized National State .

Barack Hussein Obama ,the harbinger of the ultimate decline of the USA..

@ Antonio1: From many people in DR the view is "disappointing" This comes from a country that considers electing an individual like Hipolitio who can not speak proper Spanish. Yea that's awesome representation! Obama has done more than the impossible. People fail to realize that BUSH put us in a deep deep hole.. Lets be honest here the debate is not about Obama doing a good job or not!! Its about race. If the man was not black he would not be criticized as much! RACISM contiues to be rampant worldwide! Sad that individuals continued to be judged by the color of their skin and not by their actions. Obama is beyond great! What should we elect Romney or Gingrich... lol!!!

yari4u, perhaps for many, color has worked in Obama's favor, not against it. Certainly many Australian's said "ah, a black US president at last - but he's not very black, is he?"

Roy,
What does it really mean to be black? People are people. Hence, proving the point that the color of one's skin continues to be a factor in society. Just because I'm dominican doesnt mean I like mangu!!! Guess that doesnt make me very dominican because I hate platanoes!!!

This is funny we are a mixed nation.....I don t think we are entitle to judge someone by the color of his or her skin......and this is one of the great thing about our country..we were a mixed race nation before, interracial marriage became common in USA and Europe,,,,,My mother is white dominican (British Back ground) and father is a black dominican(African back ground) so I ve got the best of both worlds
