The World Bank maintains that the processes of economic reforms go on par with the dynamism of the economy. That as the economy grows and develops the adjustments necessary to maintain a situation of balance should be made and shielded to deal with possible external shocks which we could suffer.
An appreciation in that regard was formulated by the representative of the multilateral agendy in the country, Roby Senderowitsch, in the sense that the country should be adjusting its fiscal structure for the purpose of reducing the inequality and protect the most vulnerable sectors in the event of an international crisis which many glimpse this year due to the worsening of the financial situation in some countries of the Euro zone could take place, in a general manner.
Senderowitsch proposes that the country continues a process of fiscal and structural reform eliminating unnecessary subsidies, to improve the quality of expenditure, increase the tax collections and reduce the levels of informality of the economy, among other measures and options that the World Bank proposes. He admitted the existence of a low tax pressure. He also understands that the key to development is education to surmount poverty and marginalization.
The Bank recognized nonetheless, the advance and effectiveness of the Solidarity program as a useful tool which aims to bolster and protect the social networks in the most vulnerable and needed sectors of the Dominican population. One of the high-priority objectives in the matter of public policies, is to continue improving the quality of spending and expanding the State action in fighting the malady of poverty through effective programs of social inclusion which reduce the inequities and inequality.
Other data contributed by the international official have been that according to the Bank, the electrical deficit has been reduced, noting that some distortions that affected that sector were therefore eliminated by the administration of the semi-official agency.
The message of the World Bank representative is nothing more than to warn beforehand, that the risks of a crisis can still be latent, if the reforms and changes which society needs for a better present and future aren’t continued or implemented.
