NEW YORK (HISPANIC PR WIRE).- Dominican performers were big winners in this year’s Los Premios MTV, MTV Tr3s, which invited viewers to vote for Best New Artist, Best Pop Artist and Best Urban Artist and the results are in!
Kat DeLuna, the 19-year-old star-on-the-rise, took the honors for Best New Artist. Her 13-song debut ‘9 Lives’ is a melting pot of language, culture, youthful energy and rhythms such as pop, reggaetón, hip-hop, meringue, R&B and bachata.
Aventura, the group known for their unique blend of bachata, R&B, and pop, was selected by MTV Tr3s viewers as Best Pop Artist. Their smash hit ‘Obsesion’ is a staple in Latin dance venues around the world.
Taking home the MTV Tr3s Viewer Choice Award for Best Urban Artist was the reggaetón duo Wisin & Yandel. With three million albums sold worldwide and a Top 10 album for forty-eight consecutive weeks, Wisin & Yandel has brought the public such hits as ‘Rakata,’ ‘Pam Pam’, ‘Yo Te Quiero’ and ‘Noche de Sexo’. The duo is set to release their new album ‘Wisin vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres’ on November 6th.

Voting for the MTV Tr3s Viewer Choice Awards was conducted online, by phone and via text message and the winners were announced during the live broadcast of Los Premios MTV on October 18th.
The MTV Tr3s Viewer Choice Awards were presented by Pepsi in association with T-Mobile and also sponsored by JC Penney.
