Puerto Plata.– Grupo Fantasia, Miguel Angel, Kiko (El presidente) and Los Hermanos Rosario performed last night at the opening of the Merengue Festival in Puerto Plata.

The event, which closes Sunday, 30 September, features a series of free merengue concerts by the biggest and best exponents of the most famous Dominican musical genre.

Tonight, the stage at the Malecon of Puerto Plata will receive Francisco Ulloa, Cherito of the New York Band, Kinito Mendez, and Jeffrey.

The closing concert calls for the star performance of Milly Quezada, Las Chican, El Prodigio, and Eddy Herrera. The festival is sponsored by Brugal Rum.

I say have POP merengue festival but other kinds of latin music together with this festival and watch this festival grow to be international and it will help the tourist industry at this slow time of the year.
