Santo Domingo.– Research, economy, mechanics, politics, technology, environment, culture..., they are all women-related topics, and for the Dominican woman, now it’s all online at Cayena.com.do.

"This digital magazine was created and designed two years ago, as a response to a need for a source of information for Dominican women in order to provide several perspectives regarding topics that also concern them, since women are an important force in the economic, political and social development of a society," the web portal’s director Yulendys Jorge stated.

Cayena posseses both informative and formative content, covering a variety of topics for women, without excluding men. Itania Maria, editor-in-chief, commented that each section will be updated every day. "Cayena will have new content every day. On Mondays the "Hoja Cero" section will be updated; Tuesdays, "Monedero," Wednesdays, "Sobre Ruedas," and so each day we will have fresh content for our readers," she pointed out.

According to Yulendys Jorge, all the conditions to finally launch the project have come together in November 2008, with journalist Itania María joining the team as the editor-in-chief in order to create the portal’s editorial structure, with the contributions of writers and journalists Ignaura Tejeda, Deidamia Galan, Yanela Zapata, Feybi Rojas, Adrian Morales and Samir Saba.

Besides an interview to actress Michelle Rodriguez, the first issue includes the collaboration of renowned journalists Argénida Romero, covering the issue’s main article, and Lissete Rojas. The team also includes Ricardo Hernández, as photo editor; Angel María, on illustrations, while the portal’s interface design was handled by Fernando Rodriguez.

Cayena counts on a team of foreign correspondents in Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, Spain, Brazil and New York, who will keep Dominican women posted on all the situations and issues that are relevant to them in each of these countries, as well as their fellow Dominicans who have emigrated to those countries.
