Santo Domingo.– Legendary Cuban trumpeter
Arturo Sandoval will bring his 35 years of musical experience to the Hotel
Jaragua 29 May at 9pm. The Santo Domingo
Jazz Band will share the stage with him.
Granted political asylum in July 1990 and US citizenship in 1999, Sandoval
and his family now call Miami, Florida home. A protégé of the legendary jazz
master Dizzy Gillespie, Sandoval was born in Artemisa, a small town in the
outskirts of Havana, Cuba, on November 6, 1949, just two years after Gillespie
became the first musician to bring Latin influences into American Jazz.
Sandoval began studying classical trumpet at the age of twelve, but it didn’t
take him long to catch the excitement of the jazz world. He has since evolved
into one of the World’s most acknowledged guardians of jazz trumpet and flugel
horn, as well as a renowned classical artist, pianist and composer.
Sandoval was a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning group Irakere,
whose explosive mixture of jazz, classical, rock and traditional Cuban music
caused a sensation throughout the entertainment world. In 1981, he left Irakere
to form his own band, which garnered enthusiastic praise from critics and
audiences all over the world. Sandoval was voted Cuba’s Best Instrumentalist
from 1982 to 1990.
Arturo Sandoval has been awarded 4 Grammy Awards, 6 Billboard Awards and an
Emmy Award. The latter for his composing work on the entire underscore of the
HBO movie based on his life, “For Love or Country” starring Andy Garcia.
He is
one of the most dynamic and vivacious live performers of our time, and has
recently been seen by millions in the Grammy Awards performing with
pop-phenomenon Justin Timberlake as well as on the Latin Billboard Awards with
the gifted Alicia Keys, where he was awarded his 6th Billboard Awards for “Best
Latin Jazz Album”.

Arthuro is a musical genius, one of the greatest living masters of his art, jazz. On the technical side, Arturo's and others' judgment of the esteem and self-esteem he deserves should be high.
But man is not just a technical animal.
So, Arturo and others must judge him from the ethical as well as the technical side.
Ethically, Arturo is proned to excesses in the fields of honor [ he is excessively conceited and overly ambitious]; in the field of greed [ he will take money from any source and almost for any reason] and in the field of deals [ his Miami jazz club has a reputation of changing deals after they are agreed to, always to the club's advantage].
Morally, Arturo pronounces himself a glorious little God [totally blind of course to his weaknesses], his craving for money is insatiable and indiscriminate, and his word is something to be broken or forgotten if bad faith brings unjust gain.
When he/ we judge him we find a great artist, but an average person.

HA HA what horse puckey,,,he defected for the freedom to practice his artform ....he didnt go back..... last month and the cuban circus in Mexico and tthe whole soccer team in Florida did not go back either and that was just last month...what about Paquito D rivera another average person.....
Well, the Pan-Am Games seem to have become the event of choice for Cuban defections. This year at the Pan-Am Games four Cubans defected.
And this year wasn't even that bad by historical standards. In 1999 defecting was nearly an event at the Games. 13 Cubans, including a journalist, defected by the time it was all over. In 2003, Cuba sent home athletes during the middle of the Games that they thought might defect. And 5 of Cuba's best baseball players weren't even allowed to attend the 2003 Games because they were considered likely to defect. Ironically, two of the players managed to defect to El Salvador only a few months later....HA HA

If defection means going to the USA to cash in on the standard of living, then more Canadians defect to the USA than Cubans.

There are most likely more yankeephiles in Canada than there are yankeephiles in the USA.
Of course, only a few are as obsequious toward US imperialists as GC.

"which ever and the other ones tin...you are constantly having delusions of adequacy ....please stop it," GC indulges his love for gibberish.

GC, like everything else, you know nothing about art.
Van Gogh, had one ear on his head and the other one he carried about in his hand, often dropping it.
As a person who gets a crazy check from the state every month, you should readily understand.
