It is surprising to me why citizens are not aware of vaccination measures against frequently transmitted tropical diseases.
There are many vaccines against the flu for example that are dispensed on the young, adult and elderly
to protect them from these costly ailments that take a yearly toll on lives as well as loss of income because of high employee absenteeism due to loss of work days because of these easily
transmitted diseases.
Lets have a vaccination plan for all citizens next year, free for the ones that can't afford to pay and
with a modest payment for those that can.

Good idea, but it won't work so well with dengue. There is no vaccine for the prevention of dengue.

I understand that, there is no vaccine now for mosquito caused dengue fever, and there won't be one for another 10-15 years but I was mainly referring to flu vaccines, but there are also vaccines that protect you against hepatitis and pneumonia.
We have a long history of suffering from flu epidemics that lower your immune system defenses and can make you more susceptible to getting other diseases, and is a vicious circle that can be avoided.

Dengue is spreading in a very wide range in the DR, authorities together with population should pay more attention to this problem, not only with some advertisements and actions during a short period of time but throughout all the year.
