Santo Domingo.- Customs director Miguel Cocco Friday headed the handover of seven special boats to be used in emergencies caused by flooding in the lower basin of the Yuna river.
The Customs Agency provided the funds to build the fiber glass boats in the shipyards of the Navy, and are 20 foot long, 6.5 foot wide and draw 2.5 feet of water.

I just hope this is not a pervasive practice throughout govt agencies in DR, and that this inappropriate activities will soon be redressed. It must be corrected because lack of accountability and "checks and balances" engender corruption.
Each Minister is a minipresident. Miguel Cocco, whom I did see growing up as Estudent Revolucionary( Heated Head"), friend of my brother in the same strugles. Is THE MUST HONEST( BY THE STANDARS) of Leonel Gavinet.
This is a way to show his good dowill and prevent the Central Goberment from pocketing any extra money from his Agency. This is the Only way , serius and honest Goberment's oficial can do some for the people.
