Santo Domingo.- The National District City Council and the social journalists grouped in Acroarte last night unveiled a statue of the legendary folk singer Casandra Damirón, to mark the 25th anniversary of the awards that bear her name, and the 90 years since her birth on March 12.
The bronze statue is located in the Casandra Promenade, on Winston Churchill avenue, between the avenues Bolivar and Sarasota.
Santo Domingo mayor Roberto Salcedo headed the event, to also inaugurate the Gallery of the Sovereigns, with the names of the artists who’ve been awarded the coveted prize.
