NEW YORK.- Dominican actor Perez Manny, who in real life lost his father, now has the chance to play his role in the film “Forged,” a story with a message of redemption in which a son is taught to love.
Perez plays “Jesus Barrera” (Chuco), a father who struggled to get his son to learn to love, but the latter never told him how much he loved him. “He is something that hurts much to him to the son,” states the script of the film he wrote.
The actor said the character he plays teaches him much and about what to look for in scripts. “Being in a production, I always go to the story, regardless of the actors who work in it.”
Perez, born in Baitoa, Santiago and grew up in Upper Manhattan, also coauthored and starred in the film “Washington Heights,” awarded in the Mila International Festival 2002.
He recently concluded shooting the film “La Soga” (The Rope) in the Dominican Republic, with roles by Celinés Toribio, Denise Quiñones and Hemky Madera, scheduled for release is November.
