Santo Domingo.– Gloria Gaynor, one of the biggest musical stars in the United States and best-known for the disco era hit "I Will Survive," will be at Hard Rock Cafe Santo Domingo this coming 1 August.

Gloria (born Gloria Fowles, September 7, 1949, Newark, New Jersey) had other major hits during the disco era: "Never Can Say Goodbye," "Let Me Know (I Have A Right)" and "I Am What I Am."

She was just 19-years-old when she signed her first record contract, and in 1973 she reached number one on the Billboard charts with "Never Can Say Good-Bye." However, it was her hit "I will Survive," that has brought her international and timeless fame.

Hard Rock Cafe is located in front of the Columbus Park in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo.

I love Gloria G but "...one of the BIGGEST musical stars in the US..." is really pushing the envelope. Yo se, yo soy un americano y recuerdo los '70's disco mucho. Nowadays she plays small clubs like the Indian Casinos, not major venues like Staples, MSG, etc.

BTW, the Indian Casinos are getting great acts from the past like ZZ Top, Go Go's, etc. Check out the Chumash Casino in Cali... Awesome!

Ricardolito - you just put me off going to see GG - I'd love to see her 'in concert' - 'live' - I live in the north of your island, I'd like to go south to listen to the songs of the 'good old days'!!! Must be my age creeping up on me!

Ricki Ricardo I live in the Zona and many people come to visit me and unless there is a concert in Plaza Espana or the Fortaleza parking is not a big deal

It is impossible to park in Noel and Billini , the two closest streets , in a normal night and on a friday and saturday , Isobela la Catolica is also jammed as is Mercedes so there is only one small car park open near to Hotel Frances.
Helen if you are driving down from beautiful Samana , I suggest you book into the Hotel Palacio where parking is free ..rooms are about $85 to $95 and very comfortable and safe and 3 minutes safe walk to Hard Rock Cafe

Thanks Ricardolito - using the guagua though, so parking no prob! How close is Isobela la Catolica as that's where I'm likely to stay overnight - forgive me, I don't know the capital too well!

Ricki Ricardo the Palacio is a charming hotel and George is a good friend of mine but maybe these people would like to spend less than 3000 pesos and there are many places that are less including the Conde Penalba in Parque Colon more interesting with a Balcony on the Park very chic Plaza Toledo Bettyes and many many more ,,,,yes chill I have lived in the oldest part of the Zona yes Plaza Espana and the Atrazana for 10 years chill and yes Rici Ricardo their is plenty parking except when there is big concerts .....Helen how are things in Barbacoa ?
