REVIEW

NEW YORK.- I have to say that being a guest at LA Soga's premiere was an honor.  I was full of excitement and proud not only because I know Manny personally but because I was finally going to see this great Dominican film that will change the movie industry for the Dominican Republic, putting it on the Hollywood map.

La Soga, written and produced by talented Dominican actor, Manny Perez sets in the Dominica Republic and Washington Heights.  I felt everything portrayed in the movie: action, thriller, comedy, emotions of sadness, hurt, betrayal, corruption, and a splash of love. The soundtrack is amazing from beginning to end, made me want to get up and dance.

I have never seen a movie with such a clear depiction of the people and the scenery of Santiago, and Manny has achieved it.

Manny Perez is a professional, talented actor that has so much more to show the movie industry and his fans, continuing to make his family and friends proud.

During La Soga's premiere, Manny Perez was given the DAPA Professional Achievement Award, only the 4th person so honored by DAPA since their inception in 1997.

La Soga has been the first film ever from the Dominican Republic to screen at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival and at the LA Latino Film Festival as well; winner of the 2009 Dominican Republic Global Film Festival.

Dewar’s and 7-57 Releasing presented La Soga's movie premiere on Wed, August 11 at the Regal Union Square movie theater, followed by an afterparty at Crimson night club.

Everything was beautifully seen on the bigger screen.  LA SOGA and it's crew rocked, amazing group of people.

La Soga opens today, Friday, August 13 in the New York area and in Miami.  For a list of showings, please visit: www.lasogamovie.com.

Very well written and said! I could not agree any more. Latinos and Dominicans in particular should feel a great sense of pride today as Manny is showing the world what our culture is capable of with the production and release of this movie. This film will no doubt go down in history as paving the way for others in the future to do the same. And I will end this by saying..."...and the Oscar for best foreign film goes to ....LA SOGA!! Manny Perez writer, Josh Crook director." There is no reason why this shouldn't become reality. Congrats Manny, Josh, cast & crew!
