Santo Domingo.- The grand premier Tuesday night of the film “La Soga” (the rope) in Dominican Republic depicts some harsh and in real occurrences in the Caribbean nation of around 10 million people, one of which dated to take them to the big screen.
New York based Dominican actor Manny Perez wrote and starred in the films directed by Josh Crook and shot in New York, in Santiago and in his nearby native town Baitoa, where he mixes the violence derived from corruption with some funny moments of rural living.
The film’s story unfolds as a well narrated flashback is the troubled life Luis “La Soga,” bent on revenge for his murdered father (Miguel Angel Martinez) at the hands of the “Dominican- York” “Rafa,” and for which he joined an elite unit of the country’s Police.
Luisito’s thirst for revenge can only be quelled by his unlikely romance with a local beauty played by former Miss Universe, Denise Quiñonez. It also features the popular bachatas and merengues for a soundtrack
Speaking during the premier in the Diamond Mall Cinema, Pérez said his production isn’t what most people expected. “Our film has a very real topic. It’s quite different to what has been done in our country before.”

There should be a media release of the unbiased story of "La Soga" to balance the cinematic version of this executioner.
