Santo Domingo. - President Leonel Fernandez Wednesday said as many as five films could be rolled here next year, which boosts Dominican Republic’s image as destination for the international cinema industry.
“I have news that four or five films have confirmed their release in the Dominican Republic, and therefore the news is circulating internationally.”
The Head of State said tourism and cinema provides the country with a new international positioning and as an attraction for varied investments. “But not only the cinema industry in itself, rather how it’s associated with Dominican Republic’s new international image and how it’s connected with the tourism sector.”
Fernandez, who headed the launch of the 5th Annual Dominican Global Film Festival, in Global Foundation Democracy and Development (Funglode), said the event has had much to do country’s projection, since the activity allows making contacts with the movie stars.
